Environmental Awareness Award

Congratulations to the 2016 Recipient!

The Environmental Awareness Awards are presented by the Ann Arbor Area Board of REALTORS® to Washtenaw County individuals, organizations or businesses who are proactive on environmental issues including:
• Using products that contain recycled materials or energy saving qualities.
• Taking steps to clean up environmental problems.
• Developing innovative recycling or reuse programs.
• Restoration and remodeling efforts that promote historical preservation and reuse materials.


Urban Ashes

Urban Ashes, located on Ellsworth Road in Ann Arbor, was founded by Furniture Designer Paul M. Hickman in 2009. Paul sought to transform urban salvaged wood into handmade products while employing from Michigan's ex-felon workforce. Trees diverted from the mulch/burn pile along with wood reclaimed from purposefully deconstructed buildings in the Detroit Metro Area are made into Urban Ashes products. Urban Ashes offers many goods and services including custom framing, ready-made frames, homes goods and furniture and custom goods.
