Highlight: Playground Build
The Eberwhite Elementary School Playground Build takes place next week!
Want to put a smile on kids' faces? Come volunteer to help rebuild Eberwhite Elementary School's playground!
The community build starts on Oct. 15th and goes through Oct. 20th.
With the exception of three site supervisors from the company who designed the playground, it will be a completely volunteer staffed community build. The playground will benefit not only the school, but the neighborhood, and west side of Ann Arbor in general, as it is open to the public during non-school hours. General information about the project including history and drawings can be found at eberwhiteplayground.causevox.com
The Community Involvement Committee is going to volunteer on the 17th.
However, we are encouraging others to sign up whenever they can if they can’t do the 17th.
Part of what makes this play structure special is it exceeds ADA requirements and will allow students in our three self-contained special needs classrooms to enjoy access to our play structure without barriers. Our playground serves not only all of our students, but the neighborhood and west side of Ann Arbor. They need both skilled (can cut a straightline with a circular saw) and unskilled folks to help out. Men and women 18 and older. Come on your own or as a group. They have three 4-hour shifts of 80 people to fill each day so this is a big undertaking! They will even feed you!
A Ribbon Cutting will take place on Sunday, October 20th.
