Hackers Use Internet Explorer to Launch Attacks

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has advised computer users to consider using alternatives to Internet Explorer browsers until the company fixes a security flaw that hackers have used to launch attacks.

Microsoft stated in an advisory that the vulnerability could allow a hacker to take control of an affected system, allowing them to do things such as viewing, changing, or deleting data, installing malicious programs, or creating accounts that would give hackers full user rights. Experts say even clicking one link in Internet Explorer could expose your computer and leave it vulnerable.

While the flaws are being fixed, it has been advised that you take precautions by not using Internet Explorer and switching to an alternative browser, such as Firefox or Google Chrome.
